  • We have many workshops perfect for KS2. The Chemistry Game hits every material and reaction target in the Year 4-6 curriculum

  • KS3 is perfect for our design-your-own board game workshop. Students work in teams, choosing a subject or unit of your choice and creativity problem-solve together to make a game.

  • The Biology Game is perfect for GCSE students as it hits relevant GCSE biology targets on antibiotics, vaccines, superbugs and microorganisms. While playing the entertaining game, students learn the distinctions between bacterial and viral infections.

  • A-level students will learn a range of skills during any of our workshops. The Biology Game and design-your-own game are highly recommended to improve teamwork, student-led learning, and communication in your school.

Biotical: the game of resistance

An exciting and informative disease game which helps students understand the difference between bacterial and viral infections.

  • During gameplay, students encounter a variety of different infections and have the choice as to whether they take antibiotics.

  • This encourages conversations on superbugs and how our society is overprescribing antibiotics as well as the future of medicine.

Simpler versions are available for KS2 and KS3 with a more advanced version for GCSE and A-level students

Reaction! The Chemistry Card Trading Game

A fun interactive game helping students explore the properties of everyday materials and negotiation skills.

  • Reaction! is a vibrant board game that combines negotiation skills, basic chemistry, and stock market dynamics. Players assess their cards, trade blindly, and aim for eight identical cards to win.

  • Students will be asked to give their own ideas on “What makes a sustainable building material?” and learn why materials like wood, metal and glass are so useful.

  • Students discuss reactions being irreversible (such as RUST) and reversible (such as ICE). The game’s bright colours and clear illustrations make it accessible for all ages.

Create your very own board game!

A 3-hour workshop with expert game-makers for children or adults to learn how to create their own educational board game

  • Students will be asked to plan, design and create their own board games.

  • They’ll have the beginnings of a game which they can take home and continue to develop.

    The full workshop:

    Each team will need to collaborate to make one game with instructions, basic mechanics, and a rough design. We will take turns to play and demonstrate the games by having teams switch to opposing teams’ tables. By the end, each group will have the beginnings of a game which they can take home and continue to develop or photograph for future projects.

    The game subject can be anything from a History topic, Science, Maths or Language. You decide!

5 KEY SKILLS COVERED

  1. Critical Thinking

    Students learn new skills in conceptualising, analysing and evaluating information gathered from their own observations, experiences, and reasoning to come up with a brand-new game!

  2. Creativity

    Students will get to come up with their own out-of-the-box ideas for the game and challenge what is possible, based on the subject or unit you choose.

  3. Logical Mathematics

    The workshop involves pattern and sequencing mechanics in order to teach students about logical working game mechanics.

  4. Teamwork and communication

    Students will work in teams to challenge their communication and collaboration skills when producing and making a brand-new game.

  5. Student-led Learning

    Students will be directing their own learning when creating a game with support from our staff. Giving you a break from teaching!
